Andrew has a BSc in Sport & Exercise Science from the University of Wales, Cardiff and a MSc in Strength and Conditioning from Cardiff Metropolitan University in UK.
Andrew undergraduate education took place at University of Wales Cardiff (now Cardiff Metropolitan University) where he completed a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science. He undertook a part time MSc in Strength and Conditioning while working as the senior Strength and Conditioning Coach at Bristol Rugby. This was completed during his career at Bedford Blues. Before he came back to Bristol Bears he completed the ISSN Diploma in Sport and Exercise Nutrition and is on the SENr graduate register working toward full SENr accreditation.
Andrew worked in professional sport since 2007 where he started a strength and conditioning internship with Bristol Rugby (Currently Bristol Bears) for a season. After a season he was promoted to Head of Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach where he coached rugby players from the ages of 14 up to 20 years of age, including rugby players that would later go on to represent their countries and the British and Irish Lions. A year later he was promoted to Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach where he was asked to take control of the nutrition provision as well as his other roles as a Strength and Conditioning Coach.
He completed this role until 2014 when he was appointed to the role of Head of Strength and Conditioning at Bedford Blues Rugby Club. In this position it was his job to ensure the players could meet the demand placed on them by the game itself and also the way in which the Director of Rugby and the Rugby Coaches wanted to play. He also ensured the nutritional elements were in place for the players to prepare, recover and maintain their health.
In 2017 he took on the role of Performance Nutritionist at Bristol Bears having gained the ISSN qualification in Sports and Exercise Nutrition. At the Bears he is responsible for the nutrition provision of the first team and academy players, advising on meal plans to promote recovery, wellness and preparing the team to perform at training and for games.
Andrew also recently gained the position as Academy Nutritionist at Hartpury College and University working with the senior Men and Women rugby teams who play in the Championship and Premiership respectively. Along with the senior squads, he provides nutrition advice for the university and colleges’ rugby, netball and rowing teams.
